Mike Esplago & Marville Espago


Mike Esplago started his professional career as a Merchant Marine Officer and later on served the Philippine's Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) in various capacities. Esplago has advocated stronger Philippine cooperation internationally and has served as the Philippine STCW Competent Person in the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in London, UK. He is the regional manager for TERP in the Asia-Pacific.

In a The Manila Times article, Mike, when asked about his decision to join TERP, said this, “The best thing about my role as TERP Co-founder and Regional Manager for Asia-Pacific is that I can ensure that the most advanced educational technology is made available to Filipinos. We have been continually improving the technology, taking into account our country’s challenges of poor internet and students’ economic capacity. That is why we built it to be accessible on ordinary and cheap smartphones and readily accessible offline.”


Marville Cullen Espago is an experienced Deck Officer with a demonstrated history of working in the international trade and development industry. Skilled in GMDSS, Maritime Operations, Development Communications, and International Shipping. Strong military and protective services professional with a Bachelor of Science (BS) focused in Marine Transportation from Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific. 

He was the former Deputy Director for Maritime Studies at Doro Deus Integrated School. He was a Professor in College of Maritime Education at University of Perpetual Help Dalta System – Las Pinas Campuse. He had  a lot of sea based experiences as second and third officer at Nipon Yusen Kaisha Line.

His objective is to become a professional who upholds excellence and diligence in his field of expertise and abides by the moral, normal and spiritual dogma created for the good of humanity in general.
